11/02/08 - Liz Ellis Nominated as Female Athlete of the Year in the Aus Sports Awards for 2007

After an amazing year captaining Australia to victory in the World Championships against New Zealand, and leading her team the Sydney Swifts to win the National Title, then retiring as the most capped netball player ever, Liz Ellis is being recognised for her amazing achievements in 2007.

She has been listed in the Australian Sports Awards for Female Athlete of the Year and joins other amazing athletes in the nominations.

06/02/08 - Matt Tilley Headlines New Animated Series on Channel Nine

DOGSTAR SET TO SHINE ON NINE

Australia’s hottest new children’s animation series Dogstar will debut on the Nine Network on Saturday morning at 8.10am commencing 16 February.

The space-aged series, which will screen for the next 26 weeks, is set in the year 2347, and follows the adventures of the Clark kids as they go on an intergalactic search for their missing pet dog ‘Hobart’.

This thoroughly original series features the voices of some of Australia’s bestloved performers including Matt Tilley, Michael Veitch, Marg Downey, and Shaun Micallef.

Written by award-winning scriptwriters Doug MacLeod (Full Frontal, Fast Forward, SeaChange) and Philip Dalkin (H20: Just Add Water, Wicked Science), this hilarious show is sure to prove a family favourite.

ade entirely in Australia; Dogstar was produced by Media World Pictures, operating out of its Melbourne and Perth studios. Some three years in the making, the show has been sold to more than 20 countries worldwide including the BBC (UK), ZDF (Germany), HBO (South America), Portugal and The Netherlands.

he series has already collected the award for the Best Animated Opening Sequence (Broadcast) at Singapore’s Asia Image 2007 Apollo Awards and is nominated for Animation Excellence (International) at the upcoming Electronic and Animated Arts Elan Awards in Canada.

These accolades follow Dogstar’s recognition as a finalist in a slew of local award events including the Australian Teachers of Media Awards (Best Children’s Television Series), Australian Effects and Animation Festival in 2006 (Best TV Animation) and the Australian Writers Guild AWGIE Awards (Best Children’s Television Script). Dogstar won the 2006 AWGIE award in the Best Children’s Television Script category.

Dogstar was also selected to screen at last year’s International Showcase at Cartoons on the Bay in Italy where it screened amongst the world’s most innovative animation projects.

The Dogstar novel, based on the series and written by Philip Dalkin, was published by Penguin Books and released in Australia late last year. Puffin Books will release the book in the UK later this year.
