CELIA PACQUOLA - FLYING SOLOS
EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2010
GILDED BALLOON - BILLIARD ROOM
6pm (Ends 7pm)
4th - 30th AUGUST 2010 (not 17th)
Flying Solos is award winning comic Celia Pacquola's eagerly awaited return to the Fringe following her triumphant debut Am I Strange? last year. After selling out again in Melbourne and Sydney this year, Celia rocks back into town with a new smash-hit, stand-up show.
This year she cements her comedy credentials with a clever, touching and very funny follow up. Flying Solos is the thrilling new stand-up show and is a demonstration that proves 'Going it alone' has never been so exciting, and why it is vital that everyone gives it a go.
A gifted storyteller and joke smith, Celia reveals why striding out of the ‘safe zone' and stepping up is the only way to go. Her spark is a gut full of courage, her show a reflection of life's roller-coaster ride of challenges, which she turns into a tale of fun and mischief. Part of this story is the musical challenge she has set herself. Captured on video during a series of late night rehearsals, she is happy to share her vulnerability, despair and struggle for our amusement but it cannot fail to inspire all of us, to step out, to step up and to take that chance.
Celia takes on life, trips it up and throws jokes at it to teach it a lesson
2009 was an incredible year for Celia. She received many accolades for her debut show, and had highly successful Festival seasons at home and abroad. She cemented her name in the Australian comedy scene and added to her numerous TV credits including Spicks and Specks hosted by Adam Hills, Rove and Good News Week. She has just finished another formidable season in Melbourne and Sydney and went on to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, which toured Australia.
Celia Pacquola first burst onto the Melbourne comedy scene in 2006. After only a handful of gigs, but a barrel full of laughs, she was crowned the Raw Recruit, winning the prize for Best First Time Entrant in the prestigious Raw Comedy open mic competition as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
In 2008 Celia traded in her waitressing career to write first for Good News Week, and to write and perform for The Comedy Hour on ABC radio and broadcast her weekly radio show Red Hot Go on Fox FM.
"Celia Pacquola is Adam Hills with ovaries, using her magnetic charisma to draw audiences in to a warmly uplifting show that's as inspiring as it is hilarious. I'd defy anyone not to leave Flying Solos just a little more in love with life - and with her - than before." Chortle.co.uk
